Seniors - Top Ten Observations

Image
  10)     Seniors never like to admit they are seniors; they think a senior is someone that is 10 years older than they are.   9)    You are a senior if you look in the mirror and see your parents. 8)     You are a senior if you have used a rotary phone and watched a black and white TV with your parents.  You get extra credit for watching the Ed Sullivan and Lawrence Welk shows. 7)     If you happen to be a single senior, with most of your hair, all of your teeth, and you can drive at night, you are quite the catch. 6)     You are a senior if after a potluck food event, you go home with at least as much food as you brought. 5)    You are a senior if the weather report is a part of nearly every conversation and you watch the local weather every day. 4)     Speaking of conversations if you start half your conversations with "when I was your age" or "remember when" you are a senior. 3)     You are a senior if you have ever ridden in an  AMC/Rambler, Ford Pinto, and if

European Travels - Part 2

There are sandy beaches on the French Riviera, but many are pebble beaches (rocks) which are not very comfortable and very difficult to dip your toes. There are practically no stoplights in Cair o, a city of over 10 million.  There are armed guards on nearly every corner.  Don't even think about using your signal which would give away your intentions. On the way to see the pyramids we had to pass several military type checkpoints - Not sure why but it seemed to be a bit scary - watched too many movies. Winston Churchill and I kissed the Blarney Stone in Ireland - supposed to give you the gift of gab, eloquence and persuasiveness.  To kiss it you have climb to the top of a castle, lean over the side while a huge guy with a bushy beard holds onto your feet. Ava declined. Walking around Venice is like being in a maze -it was built on 118 small islands.  Water taxis are a neat way to see the city.  Venice is sinking, first floor apartments are really cheap. When visiting the Hermitag

European Travels

Ava and I have been blessed over the past few years to travel to Europe several times.  We saw so many iconic sights that I have only seen on TV or the movies.  I will not bore you with a slide show, but I will share some of my observations. If you wear shorts in Europe, you are probably an American - this is especially true if you are walking in a pair of white sneakers. Tipping is an American tradition - not expected in Europe unless of course you are an American. Finally, if you speak only one language you most likely an American. If you go to the bathroom, make sure you have a Euro handy. MacDonalds, which are everywhere is free option.  We met two young ladies at MacDonalds in Thallium Estonia who had never met an American and we had a nice conversation about nothing. The Pyramids are really huge (10-15 ft. blocks) and you can go inside with a special tour. The size of the Eiffel Tower will surprise you - wide enough to drive a car underneath.  We had lunch on the second floor.
